I'm always a little sensitive of Asian fare all gravitating towards the general taste of Chinese style. Not that I don't like that, I absolutely do. But for a Vietnamese place, I expected a little lighter taste with a discernable difference from Chinese food.
The service was outstanding though even of the Special Rice Noodle dish was just okay. Lots of meat, a bit sweet and heavy on the sauce.
Maybe I'm just not experienced enough in Vietnamese food. I'll certainly try this place again though. I would recommend it, with my only reservation in that it was not as I expected in a Vietnamese restaurant.
Easy place to find -- it's at the intersection of Merritt and High Point Road about a mile or so down from the mall.
I have eaten at Saigon's for years. "Ducky" the owner, has been serving up the best spring rolls, glass noodle dishes and shrimp curry for years. Did you know that it was rated by Saveur magazine as one of the top 100 restaurants in the US several years ago? It is absolutely the best! And always has been!
I have been to this restaurant time after time and have tried something different everytime. I have yet to find something on the menu that i haven't loved. The service is amazing! This is a great restaraunt that is great for everything from business to family dinners. If you have kids ask for "Ducky" he is a co-owner. He is great with the kids. (P.S. he's called ducky because he does an amazing impression of donald duck) SO definatly a 10 out of 10!
" She's a vegetarian, who eats fish, but that didn't limit our dining options at all... "
