This was one of those first date dinners. I'm new to the area and had never been to this restaurant before. Cafe Vesuvio was recommended by my date who'd also never been but had it recommended to her.
The layout is rather large and open and is well lit so I wouldn't categorize the atmosphere as romantic nor intimate. The wine list is fair and I asked for some input as to a couple of wines on the list but just got smiles and no familiarity.
All of this being said, the food is very good and the service is tops.

great food and family atmosphere. I have been here several times when I am in town. Lunch specials are reasonably priced and quck. Try the italan sub -served hot along with an order of fries.
Pizza is really good and so are stromboli/calzones
Atmosphere is casual with Italian scenes. At entrance is counter where the cooks are so take out is easy. Off to the left is the dining area. Business lunch or family outing, this restaurant caters to all.
Thanks
