Slow service, Empty Restaurant written by

We arrived at this restaurant (my choice) after a 7 hour flight from Hawaii. Since our flight arrived early in the morning, we assumed we would receive dedicated service. We arrived around 6:30 a.m. at the restaurant and were the first customers. Three servers were there, and we were seated promptly. Our orders were quickly taken, and then everything seemed to slow down. My husband and I ordered a triple berry pannekoeken to share, and found that the blueberries had been thawed so long that they had started to ferment. We ordered an apple pannekoeken to share and that order was placed. However, we had only 1 pot of coffee for 4 adults, and our server never initiated bringing us another pot. Instead, she sat with the other two servers rolling up cutlery in napkins (a one person job) and chatting. When I went to pour some more coffee (after 1 cup) and found it empty, my husband volunteered to get more coffee. Both he and I worked in restaurants that specialized in breakfasts during college, and he commented that as a restaurant manager, he would never have tolerated one of his servers not even bothering to check on customers. Both he and my father in law independently commented that although the food was acceptable (after our substituted order), they never wanted to return to that restaurant. I must say that I have to agree with that. Sadly, since I remembered other visits to other Pannekoeken Huis restaurants fondly.
