  I immediatlely felt at home when entering the place. It was warm and inviting. The hostess greated us and sat us wihtin a few minutes. It was quite busy but she set up a booth for us. Our server helped my friends and I with a wine selection. Although the wine list was very descriptive in its self and a nice variety. We were all very impressed with our food. The artichoke dip, stuffed steak, spaghetti and meatballs, seafood cannelloni and the special which was squash ravioli, was to die for. They only make it during squash season. I can't wait to go back for it. The service was so friendly and effecient. It is hard to find service like that these days. In fact, all the staff was very nice and helpful. The owner stopped by to ask us how everything was. It is a family owned restaurant. The decor could be up-dated but it was very homey.

  Best food in saint paul! Try the carmello's speciality, enough food for leftovers! Great place to just eat or for a romantic date! the menu is wonderful and the chef is flexible in preparing a meal to your taste...even if he/she has to change their recipe! fantastic servers and the atmosphere is cute and like going to "grandma's house." HIGHLY reccommend!
