Ive been to zacks about a dozen times over the last year or so and have always been pleased with my food. My fav. is a chilidog with mustard and onion, usually a clasic.Compared to your average dog joint they may be a little more exspensive at Zacks,but well worth it.My mother-in law just bought a house about a mile from the old harford rd location,i think i'll be visiting her more often,,now.

just thinkin you may wanna go in and try the dogs before commenting. i was there last night and have been a regular for years now...bun steamed, dog steamed, onions diced and celery salt always added.
i think you got a bum experience, which is sad because they do use vienna everything...even the peppers and relish. even sell the stuff retail in jars.

Good Dogs for Kids and Adults alike... Hotdogs scare me by default, but this place has some good dogs!!! I have been to Zacks' three times with my family and I think we have had every hotdog item off of the menu. We haven't been disappointed! The prices are a little steep for hotdogs, but they are good quality and nice size. I would definately recomend this place to others, also at the Avenue at White Marsh...

Hi;
As an expat Chicagoan, I'm always interested in getting a good Chicago dog. Recently a good buddy of mine (another ex-Chi type) tried your dogs and was very disappointed. His comments: "The hotdogs were tough. It appears they were broiled or grilled. The buns were seeded but toasted too much. The onions consisted of long slices instead of diced. ....The only compliment we could give it was that the peppers were better than the ones we get at Portillos."
Some suggestions:
1) Steam them! Assuming that you use Vienna dogs, I can tell you that they're made from bull meat. Thus they have to be steamed or they'll be too tough.
2) Don't toast the buns before hand--sitting around will make them hard and unappetizing.
3) The onions are no big deal, although most Chi stands dice them.
4) Make sure you sprinkle them with celery salt--the secret ingredient!
If you follow my advice you may win some converts. If you don't,Chicago dogs will never catch on in Bawlamer.
BTW: Most of my ratings don't count because I wasn't at your restaurant. I just filled them in so that I could send this to you.
