Awful Service and Confrontational Manager written by

I am writing to provide feedback about my dining experience tonight at Jimmy's pub from a consumers perspective. I am an 8 year resident of Mansfield and visit the pub 2 - 3 times a month. Up until this evening, I have always had a pleasant dining experience with superior quality food.
This evening I ordered the fried clam plate from the special's menu. After the first few, I noticed a gritty substance which turned out to be shells in the batter and in the clams. A few passes by from the waitress, I got her attention and mentioned the gritty situation. I fully expected the waitress to return with a simple apology and an offer to bring out a new meal (of course minus the clams I had eaten). Instead I was offered a 1/2 price discount and my same meal back. Since I already sent the meal in, I didn't see the point of taking it back.
I asked to see the manager and didn't at all expect a confrontation. My wife explained the situation and the manager disrespectfully interrupted her and began contradicting my wife in the presence of other patrons. The contradiction was over the amount of clams actually eaten. I didn't see the point of debating the amount of clams but needed some supporting evidence of the managers claim that 75% of the clams were eaten. Since she couldn't tell me approximately how many clams come with the entree, I challenged that percentage. I admit there were 6 - 7 whole belly clams remaining on the plate when taken away and my 3 year old did a healthy job with the steak fries. My point in speaking with the manager was not to get a 1/2 price entree, rather it was to correct the inedible entree I returned and finish my dinner. Instead, I left hungry and upset.
I thought the customer was always right but in this case the manager was saying otherwise. I am ashamed to admit my feelings got the best of me from her indignant attitude and I left a zero tip for my server. I have never-ever left a no-tip for a server regardless of the situation.

My wife, kids and myself had dinner at jimmy's our waitress was fantastic. even with our meals being overdone and our drinks watered down our server made the whole experience more tolerable. the only reason we would even consider trying this over priced and overrated establishment again is if we had the server we did.
