Despite the review from Soocermom.... we had an exceptional experience with Ms. Shirley and Benedict's staff for my daughter's wedding. Everyone was extremely professional and helpful in the execution of a memorable event for the family. In regards to Soocermom's review, I have also had to forfeit a deposit with another caterer because I cancelled after contracting the date...even without a full legal contract...that's the nature of the business for all catering facility. I hope you had a nice event elsewhere...I can definitely say...you missed out on the best food and service La has to offer!!!

Plain and simple...if you are considering Benedict's for a wedding/reception, save yourself the agony by looking elsewhere. All seems great until the owner gets involved and tells you whatever you want to hear untill she gets your deposit...which varies, depending on her mood. I made a $1000.00 deposit and never received a completed contract. I attempted to cancel the event because I had no contract and was told I would get my deposit back if that date was later leased out. It was, I called, she suddenly couldn't remember me and a week later said she would work on getting it back to me the next week. Never happened. Filed with Better Business Bureau only to find that all other BBB complaints were never answered by Benedict's. Probably because they aren't a BBB member and that is probably not by choice.
I hope I save someone the uncertainties we experienced at a very stressful time and the added insult of someone retaining money that they have no legal right to. I am a true Southerner and can assure you that Benedict's in no way reflects the spirit of "Southern Hospitality". Beware...you have been warned...please consider our experience before any money passes hands.
