8 Sandwiches; 1 soup and 1 salad written by PStroup
Last visited this restaurant on February 06, 2007

I tried to call in an order for 8 sandwiches, 1 soup and 1 salad. The owner said he could not take a call-in order and hung up. I walked there, stood in line, placed my order. He told one lady to work on the order and proceeded to take & fill approximately 20 orders before giving my order only when I inquired about it. I told him he was rude to hang up on me and when I came over, he took all those orders before filling my order. He said he was sorry, he had to take care of his other customers and was told that my order was a "catering order" and should have called in by 10:00 a.m. I would hate to have him for my catering.

No. thank YOU! written by maggiemac

The best thing about this restaurant is the location relative to my office. The food is okay, not the best but not the worst. Typical sandwich fare but definitely eatable. Downtown prices - $9 for a chicken salad sandwich (not a poboy, a wrap). In my opinion that price would be reasonable for a table service sandwich downtown, with sides. However for cafeteria style, with chips extra and, apparently pickle too, it's expensive. Still, since it is the most convenient place for me to pick up lunch, I have gone to Bayou Eatery from time to time. But unless I have no other choice, the reason I do not plan to return is because of the service. Each and every time I've been in there the counter people have been barely civil at best. And I have yet to hear the words "thank you." If you are unfamiliar with the menu, you should hope for a line ahead of you so you have time to read what's available. Because if the counter staff are ready to take your order and they have to wait a moment, you'll get a hairy eyeball and an impatient sigh.
The sandwiches are shoved in an open carton type thing, with lots of saran wrap tightly wound around. This is completely impractical. The sandwich is smooshed, and once the saran wrap cut off, there is nothing with which to save the other half if one so desires.
There is no atmosphere.
The prices should be lowered, chips and pickle thrown in, some consideration or hey - appreciation! -for patrons shown, and a decent go box utilized.
