El Toro has the best guacamole dip in town. The other food is also pretty good. There are usually margarita specials. The restaraunt is clean and the atmosphere pretty typical of Mexican restaraunts that are geared toward the typical U.S. person. Smoking is only allowed in the outdoor seating area.

El Toro Restaurant in Lexington, KY is on wonderful restaurant with great food and great service. This family owned restaurant is also run by the brothers and sisters in the family, so special care is taken to make your meal enjoyable...right down to the 2 for 1 Margaritas everyday! The people are so nice that we have become friends over the years, I can't wait to go see them again.
Some of my favorite dishes include the Filete de Pescado (Garlic battered Catfish with side of Charro beans); the Pregnant Burrito (steak & chicken, onions & peppers - like a mixed fajita in a burrito!); the Shrimp, scallops & Fish Fajitas (almost unbearably delicious); and the Pollo Chipotle (spicy sour cream and chipotle pepper sauce, great with corn tortillas)...just to name a few. Their normal Mexican fare is nice too, but certain specialty dishes really stand out as unique and delicious! They also have some of the best Chorizo that I have ever had.
I highly recommend this restaurant, which is kid friendly, for a family dinner, or dinner with good friends. Enjoy the wonderfully decorated facility (with Mexican art) and TVs for the sports minded as well. There is a covered patio for those who smoke or like to eat outdoors, and the service is just as excellent there.
Enjoy El Toro Mexican Restaurant on Nicholasville Road!! The prices are extremely reasonable.
