I am a regular customer of Toc's Coffeehouse, generally it is the mornings I am there. I have been coming here for well over 20 years. I have eaten here during the evening on just a few times. Last night was probably the last time I will go have dinner again.
My girlfriend ordered a cheese burger and I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, both with fries. I asked the waitress to bring me some everyday dill pickle hamburger chips. When she brought our food out, she also brought out a small bowl that contained about 10 pickle chips. I placed them on my sandwich, cut my sandwich in two, and was about half way though the the first half. The waitress comes up to our table and has a small dish with 6 - long cut dill pickle slices. She enforms me that she is going to charge me for the pickles I ordered. I said, excuse me? And she said that someone told her that she has to charge me for the pickles that I ordered. I told her she must be kidding. She said No, she wasn't kidding, she was going to charge me for the pickles. And she asked if I wanted the extra pickles she had brought over. the long cut pickles. I told her that if I was going to be charged away for them that I would take them. The more I thought about it, the angrier I got. What I should have done, was remove the remaining pickle chips on my sandwich and placed them back in the bowl and sent all of them back. And have the charge removed from my bill. It wasn't the idea that I couldn't afford the charge, of $.60, it is the idea of it. I can see if I wanted the "fancy" sliced pickle, but for a common everyday pickle chip, the price is high. No telling what they will charge a person if they ask for a certain flavor jelly, if you want extra butter, what about suger-free syrup? If they think they can get away with it.
I hope someone in the office reads this and contacts me about it. They are on the edge of loosing a long term customer.
