Mexican-style chicken has it's roots in the state of Sinaloa. Like the riff between east and west North Carolina BBQ this style of chicken in Mexico is devided into to 2 camps. The flame-broiled and the rotisserie camps. In Southern California, the Pollo Loco chain (comming soon to Atlanta) holds the banner for the flame-broiled style and Juan Pollo hold to the rotisserie-style.
My preference is for the rotisserie style, I believe it's more flavorful. El Pollo Dorado (Trans: The Golden Chicken) holds the banner in Marietta for rotisserie-style chicken. This chicken is amazing. So flavorful, perfectly moist. This is not your Publix or Kroger rush-hour special bird. This bird is just simply great. Evidence of my find were 3 of Marietta's finest squad cars parked outside while their drivers enjoyed lunch inside during my last visit. Orders are served either Half bird or Whole Birds with 2 to 3 sides which are the standard rice and beans and a great great German-style patato salad. Also included is salsa - The hot is no joke but outstanding and tortillas. Half chicken special is $6.99 with 3 sides - feeds about 2. Whole-bird special is 12.99 and feeds 2-3. This is truly great place.
