    Not authentic Japanese

I should have been forewarned when we were the only customers in the large Ginza restaurant at 6:15pm. We ate in the dine-in side, not the hibachi side. I have lived in Japan for several years and have some experience with Japanese cuisine.

Two of us ordered soba noodles with tempura. A standard dish served at all Japanese restaurants. however, at the Ginza, the 'soba' noodles were ramen noodles in a tasteless broth. When we questioned it, the server reported the Chef said they always served this type of noodle unless the customer requested "brown noodles." The manager came out with a yaki-soba plastic package and pointed, saying, "This is what we use. It says 'soba'!" When I pointed out they were not buckwheat soba as the menu indicated, she told us to come back and next time request the brown noodles. Needless to say, we will not be going back.

From my experience, the best Japanese cuisine has a Japanese chef or owner who understands Japanese cuisine and has an attention for the details and subtleties of the food.

The restaurant was empty for a reason and I recommend you continue your search for excellent Japanese food elsewhere in West Palm Beach.

On a positive note, my preschool age son ate his sushi without complaint and it looked fine. My husband also enjoyed his grilled eggplant appetizer.

I was craving sushi one evening and decided to try Ginza; what a good idea. I sat alone at the raw bar and was greeted with a smile and a friendly face. The sushi was fresh and tasted great!! As a chef and "in the business" for 20+ years I appreciate the knowledge and professionalism showed to me as a first time guest.Again the food was great and so were the people.
