Restaurant Reviews of La Cena
Wonderful Authentic Italian Food written by

La Cena is a bright spot of Italian cuisine in a city that is rife with chain Italian restaurants. The menu read like many I saw while traveling in northern Italy. I especially liked the structure of the menu which allowed me to order an appetizer with an appetizer size portion of a pasta dish at one entrée price. I was very pleased to have the option of trying more flavors with reasonably sized portions. I enjoyed the shrimp oreganata appetizer. The herbaceous goodness of the bread crumb combined with the bright tomatoes blended perfectly with expertly cooked shrimp. My pasta dish was the Trenette (a smaller, lighter version of fettucini), with shrimp, scallops and sundried tomatoes. The sauce was light enough to allow the flavor of the silky, sweet scallops and tender succulent shrimp to shine through. The sun dried tomato added just enough concentrated sweet and tangy tomato flavor to add punch to the dish. The profiterole was light and flaky featuring cold, creamy vanilla ice cream. The warm edgy chocolate sauce made for a heavenly version of an ice cream Sunday. The atmosphere was warm and invited quiet conversation and relaxed dining.

Italian food with a flair....but owner and hostess sure do have attitudes. Were there on a busy Sat. night, and observed folks trying to get tables without reservations, and were told very arrogantly that it was VERY busy and the wait would be VERY long....most left after their rude encounters.
