I would not recommend Thom's on Grandview to anyone who is looking for a place to gather with friends, business associates, etc. Recently my group had an event in the upstairs banquet room and not only was the menu changed but the serving method was changed and the information was not given to us until we arrived. When it came time for the bill we were charged for 17 more meals than we had and we were not given a straight story about prices -- having been told 3 different things. While the manager, although frustrated with the situation, tried to work through the problems -- the female serving staff were rude, surly and full of attitude. The male bartender remained helpful and professional as did the young gentleman serving as a parking valet. We asked repeatedly for the staff to get in touch with the owner so we could work the situation out (as this event had been pre-booked) but to no avail. When we finally paid the bill we asked for the receipts and documents showing the discrepancy in charges and were told they had "thrown them away," "they did not have them," "we did not need them," etc. Again, not one clear and concise story. This was a highly embarrassing situation for the organizers of our event and harmful to our business, in terms of "taking advantage" of our own patrons who came to enjoy an evening with us. This situation could have been prevented and worked out without detriment to anyone, personal or professional but Thom's chose not. We had over 75 people there and when complaining about the overcharge and situation was told they did not need our business. They will definitely not get it again
