First visit to Sammy's Sports Bar & Grill was on a recent Friday night. It was hot out and I was thirsty and pretty hungry. I sat down at the bar and was greeted by the very attractive and perky bartender "Katie". I ordered and received very promptly an icy cold Bud Light. She recommended I try an appetizer because it was Happy Hour and appetizers were 1/2 price. I followed her recommendation and I tried the Teriyaki Chicken Satays. The appetizer arrive in about 4 minutes and it was interesting looking. Grilled chicken wrapped in bacon strips, on long skewers with some type of dipping sauce. OK, not to be dramatic, but these were the best things I have ever eaten! They were so good I ordered some more and another beer. Meanwhile I soaked up the atmosphere which featured lots of people, tons of TV's and lots of friendly people. My beer and food arrived almost simultaneously and I devoured them both. Now that I had a good base of food to start with, I sampled some of the vodka concoctions and I liked almost every one (except for the Absolut Raspberry).
As the night wore on the crowd got bigger and the girls got better looking. Met some locals and partied with them while watching several baseball games on the TV's. The nice locals also introduced me to two of the bar owners. Very nice guys who even bought me a beer. Stayed until about 12:30pm and headed back to my hotel room with a full belly and a great buzz.
FYI - went back again the next night and watched the Cardinals game with the local fans and had a blast! I travel there often and will always recommend and frequent Sammy's.
