Plainfields Mayur is, without a doubt, one of the finest restaurants I've eaten in (and not just in Portland, OR). The food is beyond compare - each dish is savory, rich, and full of complex flavors. The service is attentive without being pushy. The owner will often serve the food himself and is happy to talk to the diners as he serves the courses. Their wine cellar is stocked not only with fine wines around the world but with valuable finds (including an exemplary collection of 150+ year old midori).
This is not an inexpesive restaurant - but it is an evening of dining you won't soon forget.
