Description: The Peanut Barrel is East Lansing's oldest neighborhood Restaurant and Bar. We are located at 521 E. Grand River directly across from Berkey Hall. In 2003 we celebrated 30 years of great burgers, sandwiches and chili. Enjoy patio service (weather permitting). Plenty of cold beer and, of course, NUTS.

    Best Burgers in town

The Peanut Barrel is the last bastion of the american neighborhood bar. It has great down home, comfy ambiennce and the best burgers in town (top quality bbeef)!!! I am a lifelong resident and graduate of MSU. This is my favorite "joint' in town. Joe has owned the place for a long time and quality is something he demands. Great jukebox, food and beer. With peanuts you can chuck on the floor,a pool table and great patio to watch the EL/MSU world go by...how can you beat it. An EL institution that you Must try!!! Once you do you will be back again and again!!!!

    An E.L. MUST!

Great place, food is good, service is good and the atmosphere is unmatched in E.L. The burgers are the best in town and the Long Islands are fantastic. The patio is great on a nice day. A nice place for a few drinks and some food. Darts and pool available inside.

    Pretty decent

I've been there a couple times for lunch and dinner and it's pretty good. I love the BBQ bacon cheeseburger and they give you plenty to eat. The atmosphere is your standard college town bar, but the patio is pretty nice. Service wasn't bad but the food is worth it.

    Everyone's favorite bar

What can I say? The food is great and cheap (although the menu is limited), the drinks are good and cheap, and the crowd is much more varied than you would find at most East Lansing bars. Plus, the place is an institution, and the staff remembers their regulars with an accuracy that is truly amazing.

    The Patio is a must

On sunny days, I have no problem waiting for a table at the Peanut Barrel's outdoor patio. Inside, you can eat complimentary peanuts out of a pail and throw the shells on the floor. Fun! The food is excellent (hamburgers are the best in town) and the service is quck.
