My family and I recently moved to the Spring area and were told to try Neal's. My husband and I went with our 2 kids and had a wonderful experience. Although they have a smoking section, I was not bothered by the smoke since it is in a completely separate room. We had the homegrown zucchini and it was fantastic. You can definately taste the fact that it was grown locally. My husband had the bbq link sausage and he loved it....the sauce is sweet but not too sweet. I had the chicken fried steak and it reminded me of growing up in Alabama. My kids loved the homemade cookie they got for finishing their kids meals. The service was quick and friendly and the place was very warm and inviting. Neal, the owner, even came to our table to see how everything was. For dessert we had homemade blackberry pie and peach cobbler with ice cream. Let me tell you it was to die for. Neal's will definately be our go to place when we are looking for a family friendly place to eat great food and have great service.
Worst dining experience in 12 years. To preface this I travel 4 to 5 nights a week and have eaten out all over the US. The food was cold and the service was just as bad. The staff also blinked the lights on my family and my parents that night. I guess they wanted to go home after such a bad display of food service. To add insult to injury the waitress hit me with a 15% tip whether she deserved it or not. So I asked her to have Neal give me a call and left my cell number on the ticket, it has been 2 weeks and I have not heard from Neal. To bad Neal, not only did you lose customer but everyone I talk to will hear about my experience.
Neal's is great for take out on the way home from work. I keep their menu in my truck and call in orders on my way home pretty often. The bartender has it ready and waiting for me when I get there. The food is very good. Try the barbecue, chicken fried steak, or the crispy chicken salad. The vegetable beef soup is really good too, it has a lot of meat in it.
I recently had a birthday party for my daughter. We bought Neal's Family Pack of barbecue to feed everyone. It was an excellent decision for us. We picked it up hot and ready to serve. It came with a lot of sausage, brisket, beans, coal slaw, and potato salad, and bread. We easily fed everyone and had food left over. It was a very easy, and affordable way to serve food for a group. Whenver my son's birthday comes around, we'll be picking up another Family Pack from Neal's. It's definatly the way to go!
Something that really annoys me at restrants is when they rush all of your food out at once. That never happens at Neal's. We get time to eat our appetizer, then time to eat our salads, and then when we are about done with the salads, then the food comes out. Neal's gives us a chance to enjoy our food without feeling like we've got to eat it really fast and leave to make room for other people to sit at our table.
They taste like hamburger, only alot better, the fresh
jalapenos are out of this world, the weekly featured
wines are great!!! Highly recommend this place!!!
Neal's is one of the very few places in the Houston area that serves buffalo burgers. If you've never had one you should try one instead of a hamburger sometime. A buffalo burger tastes just like beef, except it has a lot more protein and a lot less fat. I am a personal trainer and I suggest buffalo burgers to everyone I train. Neals can add cheese, bacon, mushrooms, chili, or just about anything to it if you're looking to add even more protein.
If you're looking for some good barbecue you need to check out Neals. The sliced brisket is very lean and sliced thin. It is perfect. A lot of places have fatty barbecue, but I've never had a fatty piece at Neals. The chopped beef sandwiches are really good as well. If you dine in Neal personally stops by your table to visit with you and welcome you to his resturant. The only thing I wish they did differently is the potato salad. I prefer a mayonaise based potato salad, but they serve a mustard-based one, but that's just a personal preference of mine. Neals is always a pleasant dining experience for us.
Neal's Restarant's chicken fried steak reminds me of the food my grandma used to cook when we went over to her house to visit. They claim to make it all homemade and I really believe that they do. Very good burgers too. The peach pie is awesome so make sure you save room for dessert.
Neal's is a great place to take the whole family for dinner. Us parents get to eat a homecooked meal and the kids get their special Kid's Menu. I usually get the BBQ Chicken and it comes with 2 vegetables. My husband gets either the large chicken fried steak or one of the seafood plates (shrimp or catfish or oysters). Our kids really like this place because they get a free homemade cookie with all the children's plates. Kids meals have choices like fried catfish, chicken strips, popcorn shrimp, BBQ sandwiches and hamburgers. They also have video games in the bar that the kids like to play. Great atmosphere. My only complaint is that Mrs. Neal won't allow anyone to wear cleats inside the building. This can be kinda inconvenient for my family because we like to go there after my son's baseball games. I just have to remember to bring an extra pair of shoes for the boys. Neal's has excellent food. Try them next time you're in Spring.
" Neal, even walks around the dining room and visits with people while they eat... "
