It was by accident that I discovered Mourayo several months ago and I've been there several times since then and found it consistently top notch. This is not your standard Greek taverna food but cuisine as you might find it in better Athenian or other Greek metropolitain restaurants. At the same time, the dinners are simple and unpretentious. What tops it off is the signature freshness that marks quality in Greece, regardless of whether you have grilled fish or meat or one of the pies, and the appetizers are top of the line too, and for once one can find Greek wines beyond the ubiquitous Retsina. Cudos to the owners and kitchen staff. The one thing I found a bit twee was the decor and the staff uniforms. Does the restaurant really need to pretend to be a picture post card of a Greek seaport town, complete with sailor uniforms?
