Mikuni was highly recommended, so we decided to try it. The service was good and the sushi chef was attentive and well mannered. The quality is what really suffered. The teriyaki beef was hohum and the tempura was soggy and soaking in grease. Also it wasn't cooked through whick made it very tough. Also the flavor was bland and tasted like a frozen dinner. Although the fish used for the sushi was edible, it was NOT fresh!!! Presentation was also very amateurish. Kinda like "make-your-own-sushi" night at home. Sloppy indeed.
If I paid half the price, then maybe it would make sense, but this is supposed to be a GOOD Japanese restaurant! It is Okay at best!
Also, most Sushi restaurants are noisy, but this place had too many obnoxious peaople behind the bar. They looked like assistants. The actual chefs were very well-mannered. Kudos to them!
Mikuni has potential, but it needs a lot of polishing and quality assurance!
" They also have another location at 4323 Hazel Ave in Fair Oaks... "
