The restaurant had been suggested to me for some time. I finally decided to go in and see the hype. I expected it to be exceptional, and it wasn't. The food was good, but the service was bland.
Our server cut me off when I was speaking. When I told her I had never been there before she did nothing to promote the menu. She didn't check on how our appetizer, or salads were, and didn't stop in until we were eating our entrees; which she didn't bring. We weren't dining at peak hours, I believe it was about 9:30pm.
I just expected more attentive service from such a classy restaurant. Other employees did wish us a good night as we were leaving. I will eventually visit J Alexanders again, I believe it could have been great if we had a different server.
Ordered the 10 oz fillet steak. Good tender steak was close to ruin as it was blackened, loaded with spices! Boo!
Waiter was alert and nice but couldn't make-up for the steak treatment.
Friend with me also ordered the steak and had a digestive problem after he first several bites.
Why take a great steak cut and spice it so badly you can hardly taste the meat???
