My wife & I have been going to Gianni,s for 15 years. We live in West Palm Beach and find their food to be the best Italian cuisine around and well worth the drive.
The service is excellent as either Ciro or Gianni are there to make sure everything is first rate.
Their veal and chicken dishes are superb as is the salad & the pasta e fagioli soup is the finest I have has anywhere.
Four of us have dined there many times and Friday night we went again. Had a dinner reservation for 7:30 which was prime time and were seatd within a few minutes. Gnocchi, veal, lasagna, we all loved what we ordered. Garlic rolls are tasty, too! No room for dessert so maybe next time we'll order that first. Plenty of free parking.
Ambience OK-Nothing out of the ordinary- Friendly, helpful waitress. Baked clams were nothing to write home about.Good salads- Main courses were very plentiful. Lots of red sauce (as expected). My wife and a friend of ours ordered a triple combo but substituted shrimp for eggplant. There was only 1 shrimp on each plate however. They charged each of us $8!! When we questioned the charge the manager came over and "scolded" us. He said we always put 3 shrimp on this dish, shrugged his shoulders and abruptly walked away!-No attempt to pacify us (3 couples) or perhaps explain how this could have happened --it did by the way.The issue is not the 2 missing shrimp but his attitute-It was a Sat. nite and the place was crowded. We live here in S. Fl. and cannot recommend this place-So many other fine restaurants here-Bye Bye Mr. "I don't care"
We've eaten at Gianni's many times, occasionally with just another couple and several times with eight or ten, and it's always been great. The food is what I call authentic Southern Italian cooking, like Boston's North End, and they honor reservations, within no more than ten minutes, if that. The restaurant is always crowded and somewhat noisy, but the food and service are worth it. Good idea is to order the chopped salad when you make your reservation. It's served family style. Occasionally, you can order it with your meal, but it puts a burden on your server. He or she would appreciate it if you order it ahead of time. Enjoy a great Italian meal.
The food was very good authentic Italian. Wine list was small but adequate. The owner was ubiquitious and constantly surveyed the tables to insure good service. In spite of his attention our waitress spilled a glass of water on our table and hardly seemed remorseful. She seemed overwhelmed by her assignment. I ordered a bottle of wine and she brought the bottle to another gentleman at the table for testing. When redirected to me by this gentlemen she balked and had to be directed a second time.
The food is authentic Italina cuisine and if you love garlic you will love Gianni's. The staff are sometimes less than you expect for such a standard restaurant, (they seem to lack training in some of the finer points such as stretching across and they are not above making comments which would be better said away from the table) but not enough to cause me to skip returning. I have recommended this restaurant to others who were seeking good, reasonable Italian food.
I have eaten many times at Gianni's on Atlantic Blvd and always had excellent food and service at a reasonable price. The food and service is consistantly good and I have never had a bad experience there. I drive up from Miami just to eat there many times a year.
" Service is great but doesn't compare to the taste... "
