This was my first encounter with a Fire Mountain Restarant.
I was amazed at the selection of food, The steak is available right off of the grill, cooked just the way you like it.
The rest of the food is laid out buffet style with just about everything imaginable available and cooked to perfection.
The desert bar was fantastic.
The staff was very courtious, and made sure everything satisfactory, as well as kept your drink full.
We will be back, we had an enjoyable expierence.
In town for the post Thanksgiving/shopping with family.Restaurant suggested by my son. My daughter-in-law is a very picky eater. I have never seen her eat so much!
Food was excellant, good selection.
Best experience was our waiter, Darryl!!! What a personality & very efficient clearing plates & refilling our drinks. I only wish I had left a larger tip!!! Thank you Darryl. We'll be back when I'm back in town.
When I ask to reserve the room for the night of Feb.9,2008 I asked the manager what time they was open till, he replyed 10:30 pm I said that will give us plenty of time for our banquet. We started dinner at 5:30pm and at 7:00pm we was asked to give up the room. We was very suprised because there was no mention of the room be needed at 7:00pm. The people that came in the room felt very bad and said we don't really need the room. I can't beleive he is asking you to leave. And also it was the butcher that came to tell us we had to leave not the manager. We were placed out in the restraunt to finish our desert but could not have our devotions because of all the noise in the restraunt. Our banquet was not completed. Very disappointed in Fire Mountain.
After thinking that past several experiences here were a fluke, we tried again. We won't make that mistake again. Four o'clock on a Friday afternoon, one would think a restaurant would be ready for early customers and on their game for the evening. This was not the case. Uncleared tables dotted the room. The offering of fish that night was gray salmon sitting in water, the place where catfish should have been was nothing more than the breading that dropped off of the catfish that had been there, that pan remained that way the entire time we were there even after asking a young woman and a mgr if we could get some. That was also the outcome of the request for lemon wedges, the ones in the bowl were dried out, and brown around the cut edges. The mashed potatoes must have been siting there all afternoon as they were terribly dried around the edges and top, some brave eaters tunnelled though the "crust" only to find that the brown, and the white gravy was the consistancy of not so thick water. We went though several plates to find clean ones, both dinner and dessert. The soup well that held the "creamy" soup, I dont what it was as very few things were labled, also must have been sitting there all afeternoon as the sides of the interior pot was thickly crusted with dry brown crusty "soup". Both the baked and the fried chicken had on off taste, not from bad chicken but from off seasoning. The chicken lover in our group wouldnt even eat it. Seemes as though many people know about the chicken problem because their were piles of it in the buffet pans that remained that way during the duration of our visit. The pasta for the spaghetti never was refilled and a lone hockey puck of a bisquit sat on a plate by itself the whole time we were there. This place needs more people working that like food, know food. They need to know what it should look and taste like when done properly. There should be no more than a few bussed tables, not what we saw, many tables unbussed and remained unbussed. This was a terrible and the worst of out visits. They've gone from bad to dangerous. The temp of buffet food is key to not having sick customers. I no longer trust the food safety of this establishment.
Lots of food that lacks lots. Baked chicken on three occassions had an off taste from whatever undefinable seasoning was used on it. Mashed potatoes must be dehydrated prepared with water, they're thin, tasteless and a little bumpy. "Butter" is a tub of cheap margarine kept on ice. Grill area is very hard to see, as a result, the steak is never what you've orderd. Sometimes, raw for medium or tough and dried out for well done. The links and peppers are always unapetizingly dry and greasy at the same time. Seafood salad prepared with nothing more that imitation seafood stuff, cut way too big and dressed with cheap mayonaisse. It's fishy, bland and fatty tasting from the mayo. Stringy, tough chicken. Fishy fish. Dry turkey. Carrots drenched in a honey glaze, steamed would be so much better. Salad greens floating in water. Overpriced drinks served in beat up plastic glasses. All the pasta is overcooked to being flabby. I've tried this place 4 times as old county buffet up the road has closed. I was looking for a replacement. This isn't it.
Fairbanks Grill has a very good buffet, which includes all you can eat grilled sirloin, you can have it cooked the way you like and it actually tastes good, whichj seems pretty unusual for a buffet. They also usually have ham and some kind of poultry, the other food is decent. This is an all-around good value and much better than you would expect from a buffet, especially around $9.
