The only good thing going for Dublin's is their manager Lee, he is a really sweet guy to talk to and puts his customers first.
The HORRIBLE thing about Dublin's is their staff. Dublin's has by far the rudest staff I have ever met.
On one occasion I went there with my brother, his girlfriend, and some other friends. We had a waiter (who of course ignored us constantly) that was serving us our drinks at our table and he hadn't been seen for about 40 minutes. One of my friends said she would just go up to the bar area and purchase us our drinks that way. Well when she approached the bartender to order our drinks he said "Don't you guys have a waiter?" and she said "Yes", he responded with, "Then get the f*** away from here."
On another occasion one of the band members had given me a bottle of water to drink. Just before we were leaving I had it in my arm and as I passed the bouncers, one of the BOYS just reached over and grabbed it right out of my arms. I was NOT drinking that night because I was the DD for my group of friends. I was a little irritated but could not say anything because I was in a large group of people that were rushing out.
On ANOTHER occasion when I was there I had ordered food and when I received it I noticed there was a hair in it. I told our waiter and shrugged his shoulders and took it back to the kitchen. I did receive a new meal, but I got no "I'm sorry" from our waiter, and no manager even came out to apologize or offer to pay my bill for me.
I have also seen your establishment couple of times let in girls with fake ID's (because I personally knew they were not 21) and they were DRINKING in the bar. I let it go because I am 23 years old and I know what it's like to be young and want to go out. But next time I have NO problem calling the police and getting people let go from their jobs. If anything, Dublin's going out of business would be an improvement for East Lansing.
I live right in the Okemos area and as you can see, I have mande PLENTY of attempts to try to enjoy my time at your restaurant. But to be completely honest, I would rather go across the street to Ricks and drink in their basement than be treated like garbage at your establishment.
They get great bands at Dublin Square, even on a thursday night!! And 1/2 price martinis is reason enough to go check it out. Spinach dip is so-so. Very nice place for all ages. The wait staff is fantastic. Ky is an awesome waitor!! Get there early on Friday nights though before there is a line outside.
First of all the Dub is great. Yes they had a few kinks to get out and they did- but what great restaurant does not? This is one of the BEST family restaurants anywhere! not only can you enjoy a great dinner with your family but you can return later to enjoy a great night with friends and not worry about being bumped into like you would at any other club. The music is great-drinks are wonderful and the working staff are the best. There is no better " Irish Pub " around....
This place is great, contrary to what I've heard and what I've read on the Internet. I went there with my husband for dinner and a few drinks before a night out on the town and we were both pleasantly surprised. First off, they have Hoegaarden on tap, as well as a surprising array of specialty and Irish beers. We both ordered sandwiches, which came quickly to our table. My fish sandwich was excellent, and the coleslaw was very unique! Hubby had a burger, which he stated was excellent, and the pub chips were great, too. Our server was attentive, friendly and prompt. She made sure we got our last happy hour beer in right before happy hour ended as well! Mind you, this was on a Friday evening at 6 O'Clock that we visited. There were a few seats left, and we were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. The table was small, but not too small. Perfect for 2 people. The bathrooms were clean, as was the restaurant and the patio.
We were quite impressed and plan on returning, especially since there were $2.50 drafts for happy hour! (5-7p.m. Friday evenings)
I have been to this "Irish Pub" a few times and let me tell you, Nothing has changed. Yes it is a beautiful place but is the food great? not really, How about the Service? Not at all. It seemed that it would be nice to have a great family style restuarant down town East Lansing but why this one!....maybe things will turn around for them and we could enjoy the food and service a traditional "Irish Pub" would offer
We finally got a chance to check out this restaurant and were very happy with the quality of our meals. I had the Dubliner sandwich and I was extremely happy with how tender and flavorful the corned beef was. Everything was hot and fresh. We also thought the prices were very reasonable. The service was a little slow at first, but our drinks were always filled in a timely manner and the staff were pleasant. We will definitely be going back!
I was at Dublin on opening night and counted down to St. Patrick's Day with the masses. It was a great experience epsecially because the ages of the people in the bar ranged from 21 to 65+. It was an absolute blast.
Since then, I have been to Dublin for dinner, lunch and also just for drinks. Everytime I go I am happy with the service and food. Its a great atmosphere and a definite addition to the East Lansing area, especially if you don't like th 'typical' bar scene. They also have live bands on the weekends which tends to knock the noise level up, but hey what do you expect.
As for the parking situation, I too have gotten a ticket in the adjacent lot, which, if you'll remember, has always been there, even when the building was another restaurant. However, there are other FREE places in the area to park including the 54-B court lot after 6pm until midnight. Its worth the half block walk to not get a ticket.
Overall, I say give Dublin a try. Its a lot of fun and a good place to hang out with friends or even take a family for dinner. The building has been remodeled beautifully and the bar itself was brought over from Ireland. If the weather is nice, I would also suggest sitting on the patio, its huge.
Dublin Square is gle mhaith (very good)! Eireann go Brach!
The back bar "aka" The Game Room is where all the fun happens. There's the pool tables, darts are all set up for ya, and whatever you wanna watch,( as far as sports goes)they have it all!! Anyways, the managers, supervisors, bartenders, the waiting staff, anybody whose anybody who works at the good ole Dublin Square is fantastic!! I must admit, my first visit to Dublin was a little quirky....a lot different than what many people have experienced a Pub or resturant to turn out to be. But, as I sat at the bar and watched the Tigers game,(go get 'em Pudge) I instantly felt like I was at home. The bartenders were so outgoing and so friendly, that....one very special bartender has introduced me to literaly everbody who works there. So, I have a whole new family at Dublin now. Alright, so, If you haven't gone to Dublin Square yet, go NOW!! Yes you...get out of ur chair and call up your friends and have them meet you there. It's too good of a place to pass up.
The bar is usually too crowded to get into because of it's popularity with young and old, so I took advantage of visiting during finals week which cut down on some of the student traffic. The massive front bar hits you when you enter the second doors into the main Bar area and is the best I have ever seen. I heard that everything inside came from Ireland and now that I have been there, I understand what that means. The place is very authentic except for the high end plasmas on the wall showcasing soocer, rugby,or other local sports team. I realize this is a must for East Lansing so I am glad the owners did it right. Those TV's are awesome!
The beer selection was second to none. Over 30 total draughts on tap. The food came out fast and hot. Best of all, it was very tasty. I ate at the bar and talked with a very personable bartender that never let my glass go empty. I was also very impressed by the crowd in the Pub. As it went later into the evening, I moved into the back bar where there are real darts (not plastic) and pool tables, and smoking is allowed. The place has a totally different feel. The walls are a bit darker and an abundance of cultured stone changes the mood from the victorian scene in the front. A younger crowd but still a good age mix. I also noticed a shift from the cool traditional irish music in the front to more hip recent popular tunes that seemed a bit louder. It is definitely rowdier in the back and this is where most of the students seemed to congregate. Still, these students seemed more sophisticated than other el bars. I am a 30 year old professional so i actually like both of the scenes in this place.
Even though I smoke, I appreciated the non smoking policy in the front bar and dining area. You can always go to the back bar to have one if the mood catches you.
All in all, an awesome bar with great food, and great ambiance. I am looking forward to visiting the huge patio this summer. The bartender told me it is the biggest in Lansing area and will feature a 3rd bar outside! I did not go out but it looks nice because it is landscaped all around and not on top of any busy road. The patio floor looks like black slate and there is a very cool trelise that covers most of the area. Finally, someone invested in East Lansing. A welcome addition for ALL East Lansing residents.
The seating in Dublin Square: Irish Pub is cramped, the place is very noisy, and the food mediocre. The fish was soggy, the slaw dripped mayo, and the baked brie had solidified. You have to decide IN ADVANCE how long you will be inside and then pay what the display tells you. Overestimate and you waste money. Underestimate and you have to leave your dinner, whatever the weather, to feed the meter. I didn't; it was raining. I doubt the restaurant will pay my fine. The probability of my returning: zero.

My wife and I were finally able to have an evening out together. We had heard and read good things about Dublin Square so we decided to give it a try.
---
We went on a Saturday evening around 5:30pm. Before the big dinnertime rush. The parking is somewhat a pain as there are limited spots near the restaurant. If you get there during a rush you will be walking a block or two from your parking spot
---
As we walked in we were promptly greeted by a hostess who advised us that there was a 15-20 minute wait. We gave our name and went to the bar and ordered some beer. The bar area is situated in the center of the restaurant and is large enough for large groups of people to sit and stand while not being in the way. The draft beer selection was impressive as there was a great variety of dark beers to choose from. I witnessed many a Black&Tan being served.
---
After only a five minute wait we were seated at our table. Since we were told 15-20 minutes we were very happy. It was getting pretty busy and hectic as a Saturday evening usually is. There seemed to be plenty of staff on hand though it took almost 10 minutes before our server even came to our table and then it was only to say she'd be right back. Another server arrived soon after and asked us what we would like to drink(not noticing the two full beers already on the table). This gave my wife and I a good laugh. Later we found out that our server was training a new employee so we cut them some slack. While our service seemed sluggish at times, our server was always pleasant and apologetic for the long delays in checking in with us. There seemed to be no shortage of supervisors walking around while the wait staff clearly appeared overwhelmed at times.

The menu is just the right size. Not too big (option overload) or too small(nothing to choose from) but offers a solid variety of great selections to choose from. The specials for the evening are listed on a caulk board when you walk in the front door. This night the special was the Bay & Range (shrimp/lamb) kabob and the soup de jour was Salmon and Lobster Bisque. My wife asked our server how the special was. Instead of giving a general answer, our server was honest and said that she had not tried it so she did not know. My wife ordered the special with a house salad while I ordered the traditional Fish&Chips with a house salad and a cup of the Shrimp&Lobster Bisque. Our food arrived fairly quickly which was a surprise considering how busy the evening appeared to be. My wife had the Cherry Apple Vinegrette dressing on her house salad. It was "SO GOOD" she is still talking about it this morning. The Shrimp & Lobster Bisque was incredible. I wish I had ordered a bowl!!!! This is a MUST HAVE if you go and its available. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the special. Her only negative comment was that the shrimp seemed a little over cooked but it clearly did not deter her as she ate them all. Her entree came with steamed veggies and Champ. Champ is simply mashed potatoes. We had to ask what it was ourselves. I have to admit I was slightly dissappointed in the Fish and Chips. I use fish in the singular sense of the word as I got just one piece of fish with the meal. While it seemed to be a big piece of fish I was further disappointed as it was mostly breading. The tartar sauce had a strong infusion of Dill. This did not appeal to me but my wife loves Dill and thought the Tartar Sauce tasted "heavenly". So if you love Dill, you will love the tartar sauce. If not, then it's just OK. My meal also came with Cole Slaw. While I am not big on Cole Slaw, I did find myself eating more of it than I thought I would. The Cole Slaw at Dublin Square includes cranberries and apples. Also there is no overpowering vinegar taste that most other places cole slaw's tend to have. We passed on desert, instead opting for another round of beer.

The atmosphere at Dublin Square was very warm and inviting. Everything that you would expect from an Irish Pub. There are plenty of flat panel TV's on the walls all over the restaurant (including the restrooms) with enough sports on to make any sports bar proud!! Great if you visit with friends, but for a romantic evening, it may be a distraction. My wife caught me several times tyring to check out the NFL Draft. There is a fairly large patio area off the main dining area. This was empty when we arrived but was packed by the time we left. We were extremely pleased with the lack of smoke present in the building. There did not appear to be a smoking section. We were later told it was in the back of the building. My wife and I both commented on the nice cross section of patrons, young and old. It clearly added to the appeal of Dublin Square.

From a cost standpoint, the prices are very reasonable. Our entire meal + drinks was $45 + tip.

Overall, we were very satisfied with our experience at Dublin Square. We will definitely visit again, except I won't order the Fish and Chips.
I went there a few days ago for the Michigan State Hockey Parade. I watched from right outside and immediately went inside to eat afterwards. I always see it busy so I figured it must be good. I got in and sat at a nice table with a few of my good friends. The service was excellent and the waitress was very kind. I ordered the salmon and LOVED it. My friends also enjoyed their food very much. Only my friend, David was 21 so he was the only one that drank. He said it was served to perfection. I would definately return to this restaraunt. Probably one of the best places in downtown East Lansing!!

I went with a friend yesterday and had a really great dinner. Both of us had the fish and chips and we were both quite happy with our choice. The house salad dressing (apple cranberry vinagrette)was unusual and really tasty. The chef stopped by to chat with us - wished I had asked for the recipe! Cole slaw also has apples and cranberries in it - loved it. Not too noisy for a Sunday dinner hour, good table although there are a couple of tiny ones, attentive service. We didn't feel rushed to leave after we finished eating. I'd go again.

The restaurant is a loud, chain atmosphere. We were placed at a
small!!! crowded table.
My guinness came foamy and poorly poured, sad for an "Irish" pub.
I had a the fish sandwich and I didn't realize it would come with a slug of indeterminate yellow cheese on it, the bun was dark brown but tasteless, slaw was not very good. My daughter had a pasta dish that was better.
All in all, better food and beer in town, esp other "Irish" pub.
I think this bar is a welcome attraction for downtown East Lansing. Nice to have a large place that brings in a multigenerational crowd, and I enjoy the bands they bring in. As a wise friend told me, it's an American version of an Irish pub: big and loud. My biggest concern is the quality of the food. I've had two meals there, and neither one has impressed me.

Once the opening rush settled down, we dined with three adults and two minors at this Irish-style pub. The Guinness on tap was served to perfection. The Dubliner. a specialty of Dublin Square, satisfied two of our party. The other three chose a shepherd's pie, an Irish Dip (similar to a French dip), and another specialty sandwich.
At 4:30pm, the restaurant was clean; it was not crowded. The food arrived quickly and the waiter humored us with light conversation. If you are looking for a great meal with outstanding service. . . Éirinn go Brách!
Went on a friday night, it was packed from wall to wall. One nice feature about this pub is that all smokers must go to the rear of the bar and smoke. The service was great, and the shots that we ordered actually came in shot glasses, not plastic cups like harpers. I haven't tried to food, so i can't give an opinion about it. The atmosphere was nice, and the live band was decent. There was a cover charge of 5 dollars. Honestly I would have given the bar a higher rate, but I find cover charges to be stupid. This is a bar located on a college campus, and college students honestly don't have that much money to be paying cover charges.
