I have been eating grinders of genoa, tomotoes, provolone cheese, lettuce, hot pepper flakes, salt and of course homemade grinder bread with olive oil all my life. It's the orginal grinder from back East and it's the best at D'Elias Grinder!!!! Of course the meatball with provolone cheese is awsome too!

I grew up in Riverside when the dining experience was outside and there was a screen between you and the order taker. I just love these grinders. I don't live in Riverside anymore but, when we visit we head to D'Elias for a taste of heaven on a crusty french roll with lots of olive oil and crushed red pepper awesome.

This place made 'em! It was always skeptical about driving around Riverside and eating anywhere's downtown. I didn't know if I should eat here or not, but got the 'ok' from a friend that the subs are actually pretty good. Well, with that in mind, only taking a chance would be the only way of knowing.

Upon entry into this parking lot, there were many people driving up and the place was pretty much packed. I'd figured that the subs had to be good. I wanted to get an Italian sub and figured I'd get a half sub because I hadn't eaten there before. I didn't really see an Italian sub, so I'd figured I'd order a pastrami.

Woooooo, that was salty, even for my tastes. But it wasn't bad. I wasn't sure if they were going to put lettuce and tomatoes. But the bread was really good. The other subs that were purchased along with this order looked alright. They weren't great, but they were eaten. And when you order a cold sub, I can't really see them as being good subs. My sub was alright. Would I go back? I don't know. I'm always on the quest for a good sandwich and I have yet to find one in Southern California. The search goes on.....

I am not sure why this is classified as cajun, but it is a good palce to eat, nonetheless. The griners are wodnerful and part of that is due to the tasty bread. My favorite is the pastrami. The prices are pretty good too. The service can be a little slow, but only becuase they make things on the spot.

I grew up in Riverside and have many memories of warm summer nights that included D'Elia's grinders for dinner. Though I now live near St. Louis, Missouri, whenever I am in Southern California, we always make a trip to Riverside for a grinder meal. The bread is always fantastic, the meats are perfection and the entire sandwich is definitely worth traveling for. Best grinders ever!

I've moved north but remember, with watering mouth, over 30 years of great grinders. Baking their own bread is the key and the Perone brothers have been doing it right for years. If you're ever in Riverside around lunch time, don't waste your time--head for University Ave. and enjoy.

Our favorite take-out for years. When family return to visit this is the item of choice for lunch or dinner. Highly recommended. The bread is awesome, service is excellent, a favorite stop. I recommend D'Elias to everyone who lives in the area or is planning to visit. You will definitely not be dissapointed.

I've been going here my whole life, BEST Grinders EVER! You simply must try the BBQ Sandwhich and the Ham&Turkey Sandwhich! It was established in 1950!
