THIS PLACE HASIT ALL! THE FOOD VARIETY IS GOOD, THE SPECIALS GREAT. THEIR BLACK BEAN SOUP IS OUT OF THIS WORLD. DRINKS ARE HIGH PRICED. OVERALL THE RATING OF THIS RESTAURANT IS VERY HIGH. MY WIFE AND I ENJOY EATING THERE.
My husband and I have been eating here for years. The food's been good with some issues on occasion. The past 2 times we've noticed major issues. Most recent, our 32nd anniversary this past week.
Curleys has signature dishes. When we visited this past week we elected to just order SIGNATURE, hence no issue regarding preparation. I ordered "Silk and Satin" and my husband ordered "Chicken Ochee".
After placing our orders, consuming a bottle of wine and munching on bread, a bit past an hour had elapsed. Our waitress informed us that the delay was due to a large party (none that we could see). Both dishes eventually arrived, his - cold, not tepid but cold, and mine, well kinda like beige water.
"Silk and Satin" is a combo fettucine/carbonara dish addtionally featuring mushrooms and peas, however this dish is made with angel hair pasta. It's normally served on a plate, mine came in a watery bowl mishmash that was beige. And it tasted - BEIGE. I mentioned this to our waitress and received no response.
My husband's choice, although tasty, obviously had been sitting cooling it's heels for sometime.
I left. My husband paid the bill and mentioned the issues regarding the food. Waitress suggested that we should have complained - he pointed out that we did. Whatever. We won't be going back.
The really sad part, I complained to the owner and have yet to receive a response. Another odd ball quirk they (the restaurant staff) have; No reservations accepted during the week. Show up on a Tuesday and ask for a table in a completely empty restaurant and you will be asked if you've reserved. You'll respond "but you don 't take reservations during the week" and they'll say they do. If you are so bold to say that you had called in and made a reservation, they will insist the reservation is not there and you must sit at the bar while a table is found.
What we have is "Catch 22". Go elsewhere.
This local favorite now offers an extensive gluten free menu. The service could not be beat; it was fantastic. The food was great and I was actually able to order a real meal and it was gluten free and prepared in a separate part of their kitchen. I highly recommend this restaurant. You can also purchase gluten free pizza crust and take and bake cookies too.
