The Monday specials allow for a burger and fries for only $2.50. For this reason, Crunchy's draws large crowds from six until 10pm on Monday nights. If you are looking for cheap food and cheap beer, this is the place to go.
A block north of the Michigan State University campus, the bar is quite within walking distance. The wait-staff ranges from amazingly friendly to horribly mis-managed. If you get the right waiter or waitress, you can expect quick service and a smile. If you find yourself seated, as we often have, in the section of a less able waiter or waitress, the service can be slow and rude.
For a dive, this bar is the best in Lansing. If you expect to be treated as royalty, go elsewhere. If you want cheap food and a great atmosphere, Crunchy's is the place to be.
Very good deals on food, not sure about the beer cause i dont drink. Nice little place to eat. Awesome burgers and pizza. A fun place to go. The service is really good too. I would recommend this place to any family or anyone who likes a a good burger joint.
I just wanted to second. I was outside waiting before as well, except for no doorman. When I walked inside to find a waitress or anything the man said they were full, however half the room was empty and there were only two people on the outside patio area full of seats. We left quickly thereafter
Ok, so maybe I just got them on a bad night... but i doubt it. I should mention (before i go off on my rant) that the drinks were cheap, and the karaoke was fun once we got drinking. As far as ambiance, it's a nasty college bar - nothing special to speak of. dark, stinky, and laden with tacky decorations.
Our Crunchy's experience started out with a 35 min wait outside of the bar. Now don't get me wrong, I'm ok with waiting my turn when bars are busy but after our long wait in the cold we found that the place was only half full! so what were we waiting for?
we easily found a table and ordered drinks. The waitress wouldn't split the check, which we were ok with, so i went up with a few friends to the bar to order. The glasses that they were serving drinks in were filthy (like beyond frat house dirty) and i found stuff floating on my drink. I stopped drinking at that point. Maybe i would have enjoyed myself a little more if i had just consumed my drink and it's mystery floaties.
We stuck around for a little while longer, sung a few songs and then the check came - oh the fun continues! The parties who were all on one check knew that it was coming together - this was ok, but our waitress just couldn't get the check right. First, she insisted that there were five drinks, even though the check was only for two people with two drinks each (that's four drinks total people). She wouldn't take the drink off, so we went to the bartender who seemed to be somewhat of an authority figure. He took the drink off, and then revealed our second problem - all of the drinks were charged as doubles, even though they had been clearly ordered as singles. Once again our waitress blamed us for the problem, saying that they serve doubles by default (which they don't the bartender told us) unless you specify otherwise (which we did). The bartender changed the bill again, bringing it down from $35 to $13.75.
So final thoughts: get the bill right and keep the random s*** out of my drink and maybe, just maybe follow some basic health codes and, well... I'll still never go back there.
Karaokee is fun, and so is listening to others sing badly. When you leave though, dont expect to be able to go within 12 feet of any non-bar goers, as the stench of smoke will permeate.
The service stunk. So did the ciggies. We only had nachos, but they were alright. It's tough to screw up nachos though.
