despite always having difficulty getting seated, even with reservations, I love to dine here. High ceilings, subway tiled walls and an authentic french flair always calm my nerves after the dim hostess struggles with her job. There is a snarky waiter in the smoking section whom we avoid, but beyond that, service has been fine. Once we were asked to move tables to accomodate a large group, and we were comped dessert AND cocktails-now would the French do that? Have a glass of bubbly while you wait at the bar, don't fret over how authentic the food is; just experince its great energy, great Frites, and wonderful decor. Since you've splurged on dinner, walk a couple of blocks to the Bird and enjoy a $1.50 movie.
