I was THRILLED to finally find Osso Bucco on a menu in Bakersfield, however...what I received was LAMB SHANKS. I was taught that Osso Bucco is made with Veal? The Chef insulted me telling me that I was wrong!!!! Otherwise everthing was wonderful! The Baked Brie was cooked to perfection with its accompaning antipasto platter. Definatly would recommend the HOT (red) variety of their pita bread spread. The Beef stroganoff was an acceptable dish in light of the Osso Bucco fiasco. The Tiramisu was to die for.
I have watched Cafe Med move from East Bakersfield to Southwest Bakersfield and grow over the years in popularity.
I have eaten there many times since their opening, and have found their food to be a bit over rated. I don't care much for their kababs (Persian kababs are much tastier!), and they are very expensive.
However, on the plus side, they do have a nice, fine dining atmosphere which is lacking in most other Bakersfield restaurants. They also have a killer basil pesto pasta. Their appetizer dips are also very good.
It's certainly worth a try, and by the looks of their always full restaurant, many people would probably disagree with my assessment.
