Always come back for pasta dishes. Saturday night it was awful!! I ordered a pasta dish with chicken - no breast meat but leg couldn't even find it!!
My experience at cibon was extremely unpleasant. The first table we were sat at was right where when the door opened a huge gust of cold wind would come at us every time. So then we asked to be reseated and sat at the tiniest table there was. When the waitress brought out the appetizer we didn't have silverware to eat it with and it took her a long time to find it. Then she brought out the entrees and we were still eating the appetizer because of the silverware dilema, also there was no where to fit the entrees on the table. My filet was good but the potatoes it came with were undercooked and bland and my boyfriends roman chicken tasted like it was from the frozen food section from the grocery store. She didn't ask to refill his coffee ever either. Needless to say we went somewhere else for dessert.
Not sure what happened to this place. It was great when it first opened but after a recent visit, it's rather lacking. The wines can be found in any budget, closeout bin around town, the baked goods aspire to be stale, and food should be heated to at least room temp. The service was good but this restaurant aspires to be a french style cafe and fails to deliver. I rather pay a little more for honest ingredients than try to be fooled by lesser quality at this price point. Yes, I realize we're Rochesterians and not Manhattanites but give us a little more credit than this
We tried steak, pasta and salad. It was yummy! I want to try the rest of the menu. Our service was very good. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming with great music with a beautiful interior. The wine was extensive with education along with it. The prices were unexpectedly very reasonable. Great place to hang out!!!

I am not impressed by cibon. The service leaves a lot to be desired. I have heard, from a few young attractive local girls, that they have experienced a not-so-friendly vibe from the female workers at cibon. I thought this was coincidental, & trivial; until I too experienced the same vibe. Its most interesting that this establishment prides itself in being "elite, warm, friendly.." when it's anything but (unless of course your the opposite sex). I suppose to Rochester's standards, it is an alternative to the typical obnoxious nightlife. It's just too bad that the owners seem to discriminate & come across as being "selective" in who they decide is worthy of a "friendly, warm" service. Or just acknowledgement for that matter. As a student, I have traveled to Europe & frequented many cafes; & never experienced such "snobbery" (I call it snobbery, yet it was less dignified, & more childish & "catty").. Maybe its because Im used to more cultured, civilized atmospheres; but I didn't realize that cibon's service was based on unjustified, unnecessary frivolty of cattiness.

I had a wonderful panini and salad followed by an italian dessert. The staff was knowledgable and helpful with wines. The service was warm and friendly and the atmosphere was addicting. I think this place has it all. One could go there by themselves and not ever feel alone all the time knowing they would even have a tasty meal.
