Chicken Fried Steak.....What a Joke!
I read a review of Bubba's because I wanted a Chicken Fried steak and so thats what I ordered. I asked the waiter about the Chicken Fried Steak and he did say it was "very popular"..... This does not suprise me for corpus and their lack to detail.... The steak was not good at all. It was not hand battered or even close to homemade.... it was pre-battered and pre-frozen and i'm sure came frozen in a box of 20 or more from Costco or the like.
Bubba's may have other good food... but definitely not the chicken fried steak. If this passes for decent food in this town I cant wait to leave.

Good deal
We just went to Bubba's for the first time tonight (12/10/08).
I thought the prices were very reasonable and the Chicken Fried Steak was AWESOME. As some have said, the corn muffins they serve before the meal were very good as well.
The free soft serve ice cream was a little melted but still good.
We will be back! -
Good Food
We were looking for some place to go that we had not been before. We decided to go here for lunch. I had the Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich and hubby had the 1/2 Chicken Fried Steak Plate. Our food was excellent. The best CFS sandwich I have ever had. So big, had to take 1/2 home. Couldn't even finish the fries/onion rings that came with it. Hubby had an ice cream cone and said it was good too. The breads they bring to the table before the food were excellent also. The service left a little to be desired though. Slow, not attentive, spent too much time talking with each other rather than serving the customers. Never did get the lemons for our tea. We will be going back though to give it one more try. Hopefully they will have some better servers.

not great
the philly sandwich wasn't that good - i expected waaay better. the mac & cheese is AWFUL. the best part is the pre-meal corn muffins - they're WONDERFUL. the bread muffins aren't too bad either. but it doesn't make up for the other things that ain't that great. the place is OK except for some of the items - certainly nothing special.

way overrated
im guessing that the people that wrote the other reviews for this place must have been employees or friends of employess because when i went two days ago the food and the service were horrible. i had the smothered chop steak which tasted like burnt char. the gravy didnt even stick to it. it was like water. the okra was soggy as if it had been cooked an hour before the rest of the food. my fiance had the cheese burger. the bun was also soggy and he had a hard time picking it up to eat it. it just kept falling apart. the best part of the meal was the free ice cream but even the cones for that were stale. almost like they had been sitting out to long. the place smelt really funny and the servers were spending more time talking and visiting with each other then they did serving food and taking care of us. i had to sit through my meal with a cup of ice cause our server was "busy" and couldnt make the five second trip to get a refil. and at that time i think there may have been 4 other tables in the restuarant including us so there was really no excuse. i doubt i will ever return to bubbas. the cooks also looked really dirty and scary. one of the cooks shirts was all stained and dirty looked like he had been working in the same shirt all week. If you want the best chicken friend steak in corpus, go to bill millers. only 3.99 and that comes with 2 sides and a drink. best deal in the state. This resturant did not meet my expectations. the people that gave good reviews to this place, like i said before, must be workers or friends because this place is terrible. i wouldnt suggest it even to my enemies.

My wife and I ate at Bubba's just yesterday (Sunday 17 Feb 08). We had seen the restaurant on previous trips to Corpus Christi. We decided to check it out before leaving Corpus on our way home to San Antonio, Texas. WOW! Our decision to eat there was one of the best we've made! The food and service were superb! Our lunch came fast and tasted DELICIOUS! We also took home two Triple Cheese Burgers for our kids at home. They were totally taken with the great food we brought them. They had a hard time finishing the humongous and tasty burgers! We'll be back to Bubba's soon. We will definitely take our grandkids (Maggie, Joseph, and Ryan) to this extremely tasty restaurant!

Awesome
It is a laid back fun place like Texas Road House except it better! The burgers are awesome and the chicken fried steak is known to be the best in corpus. The best part is that everything on the menu is very well priced. I recomend bring your family and friends when they come into town! Great place to relax and drink a beer while your children play!
