    Bland Food & Bad Service

    * Review of Buffet
    ** Very less variety of vegetarian. I noticed two dishes and one appetizer choice which was available in limited qty's. The food is bland with no taste, you cannot smell or taste the cumin or coriander. It is so bland, atleast they could add some red pepper to mask lack of taste. Rice is not cooked to right "fluffiness", i.e. it is less cooked and hence harder.
    ** Indian Music is rich and offers plenty of variety. There is no need to display or remind customers of how british occupied india felt like. Imperialism was a nasty plundering experience in India. They play the piano with the same discriminatory attitude.
    ** Bad Service. The maitre d' is very rude and arrogant. He makes it a point to only smile at guests with suits and appear to have a fat wallet. Very abrupt and nasty attitude. Indian hospitality is famous, these people are ruining the indian name. They are curt and rude. Spilled the rice on to the chair of my family while cleaning and no Sorry. Forcibily reseated us with asking us after giving us a seat to accomodate an old couple who visited them often. Also remember this place reminds you of the discriminatory rude attitude of the east india company imperialism.

    I had a terrible experience at this place. The maitre d' seated us. We went to the buffet to pick up food and when we returned he moved our things and told us rudely that the place he asked us to sit is reserved for an old couple who visited them for 18 years. No please, No sorry and No thankyou. The old couple in "Suits" stands around and asks us .."So is our table ready or not?" After three rounds to complaining to the other staff the maitre d’ walks out to apologize in what I would say a truly unapologetic manner. This place does not like you, unless you are related to the white house.

    My husband and I took a friend, who was visiting Washington on business, here for dinner. The atmosphere is very nice - very cozy - loved the piano. The food, however, is another matter. It was definitely not the best Indian food I have ever eaten....the portions were tiny, expensive and not that tasty. Perhaps I am used to eating more traditionally seasoned Indian food and that makes Bombay's food seem bland - I don't know. I do not think we will eat there again any time soon. The atmosphere, though, really was great...the food a bit too commercially prepared to satisfy American tastes (spiced down). I have never been to an Indian restaurant in my life where you cannot ask the chef(s) to prepare something custom off the menu and they always oblige. We tried that at Bombay, and the waiter freaked out and we were informed that the chef said it was not possible...never a good sign.
