I realize that restaurants have off days, so I gave this place three tries before deciding to never go again. Although many of the menu options sounded appealing, each time the food was a disappointment. Also, on one occasion I was told that something did not contain an ingredient I am allergic to, when it in fact did. Luckily, it wasn't a matter of life or death, but it was an unpleasant surprise.
This definitely is not a place to go for ambiance, but that wasn't what I was looking for either. I work nearby and was looking for a place to regularly go to lunch.
If you are looking for a cafeteria / order and sit down style place like this in the greater Lansing area, I would highly recommend Mama Bear's Cafe in old town. The food is much better and the pastries are amazing!
The food is so incredible that it just doesn't seem right eating with plasicware!
Everything is absolutely delicious - always!
I would particularly recommend the prime rib and the mushroom romanoff. The mulitgrain bread is scrumptious!
If you are looking for a quaint, warm atmosphere and a perfectly taste-bud-exciting meal, you'll definitely find it here.
I LOVE Benson's Vinaigrettes!
My work had Vinaigrettes cater lunch and let me just tell you, it was OUT OF THIS WORLD! The best lasagna and pasta primavera I have ever had the pleasure out eating. The salad was to die for as well. It was a mix of green with berries and mandarin oranges with raspberry sauce. EXCELLENT! I have never dined at the restaurant, but I will now!

Ordered their Cashew Wild Berry chicken salad. I've eaten there before. I asked about the cashews and if they were roasted in peanut oil. The lady said no. I ate the salad, got a reaction and called them back. Then she checked, sure enough. I called Benson's back and didn't even get an apology. Could have been a near death experience.
The food changes daily -- and on a seasonal basis.
I was there for dinner last night and had the oven fried chicken with mashed red potatoes and mac & cheese.
They give you a hunk of bread with every meal -- I recommend the sourdough. Mmm!
I love Vinaigrettes and always enjoy my meal there. If you're up to it -- try their pie, it's out of this world!
The food is aways great as well as the service! It's nice to have a restaurant that serves food like this one!!! The menu is so different than any other restaurant and all cooked fresh! I eat there at least 2 to 4 times a week and am always pleased with what ever I order.
