I'm not sure how many times I've been to Bella Notte in the past ten years, probably more than I want to know. They continue to improve their menu and service so that it reflects a high end dining experience rather than something to compare to Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill. Its obvious the kitchen is run by trained professional chefs instead of line cooks. They have great appetizers, fresh seafood, and pastas. Their panna cotta is out of this world. If you have an opportunity to stop for lunch service, you absolutely should. Their lighter selections, especially salads, are very unique in this town of chain restaurants.
I have eaten there atleast 20 times since moving from Seattle. I have had beans, fish, pizza, and mushroom meals. The service is not the best. Many times I have said I have allergies to nuts and my meals came with pine nuts. Too many items have pine nuts on their menu. Also the wait staff is extremely young. The managers are all good though and do their best to help. I am impressed with the Chef, he seems to be well trained and have a strong influence in the specials. I continue to return because the food is well above average when they get it right and the cost is very reasonable. The atmosphere is good. It is also the next best thing to Italy in Lexington. I only eat out at two places and Bella is one of them.

Best Italian in Lexington! The service is great and so is the atmosphere. Just becareful on dropping in on a Friday night or after a basketball game! The wait can be long. Cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Specially the bread, oil, and herbs. Could just eat that and be happy.
A young woman took us to a table and asked if "this is OK?". My husband asked if we could have another,as the table she had selected had no table cloth ( and the table was peeling}, also the table was right next to the register where waitors congregated. The young woman, ignored (or at least appeared to have her thoughts elsewhere} us and sat us there anyway. We always prefer to be seated in a little quieter area. (note: there were plenty of tables available throughtout the restaurant, it wasn't as though there were no other choices.) As the experience progressed, the waitress was fine but the wrong food was brought to our table, and was consequently taken away when the waitress discovered the error. Then a porkchop meal was brought to my husband which had to be sent back because it was not cooked properly all the while I had my lasagna in front of me. It is not a very comfortable feeling to eat while your partner is sitting waiting. All in all it was $50.00 dollars I felt wasted on an evening I had been looking forward to.
We have no plans to return to Bella Notte in the future because of this experience.
This is a long-time favorite of ours. The food is excellent, service is friendly and excellent. Atmosphere is very nice -- like sitting in an outdoor courtyard in Italy. Food is always hot, well prepared and large portions. Good value for the money. If you like fish, you have to try the Chilean Sea Bass -- they know how to cook fish! It's one of the more expensive items on the menu, but well worth it. Perfection. They change their menu with the season to keep it fresh and interesting. Pasta is wonderful. If you want a change from tomato sauce, try the vodka cream sauce with pasta and shrimp. Wonderful. The bread is hot and really wonderful -- reminds me of the homemade bread my Italian grandmother used to make. For dessert, try the tirimisu -- but ask for the original recipe (they have two kinds). A good bet anytime!
