I went to this place about a year ago with friends. The chicken enchilada dish tasted a bit strange, but I figured it was just my taste buds... but I was wrong. I went home and fell ill within a matter of hours. I was sick for a day before going to the doctor where I was told I had food poisioning. It was so bad that the doctor kept me in office to make sure I could get re-hydrated and stop puking before he would let me leave.
I swore I would never go back...
But, two months ago my friends begged me to go out with them... and they picked Aldoco. I told them about the past experience, but they all insisted that the restaurant had undergone a revamp and a management change so things would be "fine." So, I agreed to go. I did not order chicken... opting for a bowl of Caldo de Res (beef soup) and chips with salsa and sour cream instead. The soup was fine, but when I took a bite of a chip with sour cream I knew something was wrong. The sour cream was "sour"... as in spoiled. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the sour cream had separated in the bowl and had a very foul odor -- like rotten milk. I promptly told our server. She offered to bring me a new dish of sour cream... but the damage was already done. I could not even finish my soup because of the persistent rotten milk taste hanging at the back of my throat.
No more Aldaco...
I will stick to Los Tres Amigos (down the street) instead!
They have really good home-made chips. The lunch buffet is really good. They also serve breakfast.
We went there for my 2 nephews birthdays per their request. they love going there as do we. We all had the buffet and it was excellent, the waitress was very attentive and nice. We have been eating Aldaco's for years and have never been disappointed. We order delivery alot also, always excellent. I have tried many many things off the menu and have never been disappointed. We enjoy their food dine in or delivery at least once a week
My husband and I frequesnt this place, and we have always been pleased. They have a buffet or you can order meals, both are good. The chips and salsa are very good, beware the hot is pretty hot. My favorite is the cheese quesadillas or the taco diner, my husbands is the buffet which usually has tacos, quesadilla, burritos, taquitos ground & shredded beef and shredded chicken. You should check it out it's very good!
I came about this restaurant via word of mouth. A few of us salsa lovers were boasting about our favorite mexican restaurants and someone mentioned Aldaco's. We placed a delivery order, mine was the #9, which was off the lunch menu. This consisted of 3-ground beef tacos, $5.25. The taco shells are hand made and they are the best! The taco's also come with some handmade chips and your choice of hot or mild salsa. The hot is recommended. I love hot salsa's - but it has to have flavor. Their salsa is absolutely awesome. Fresh, spicy, and just enough for to get your nose running. We order from them every Thursday for 3-4 months now and sometimes we have 15-20 orders. Not once have they messed up the order. They are always on time, and delivery charge is minimal. Aldaco's is Lansing's hidden mexican gem.
The food here is terrific!! I ordered the enchiladas and the rest of my party ordered the Friday evening buffet. The service is prompt and courteous. The atmosphere is alright, but we primary went there for the food - which again was fabulous! We will definitely go back again & again!
I ordered the lite enchilada with chicken. One enchilada with beans and rice. Too good! I'll go there again. Atmosphere? It was OK. Service? It was fairly quick, the waitress came back often, but didn't intrude too much. It's a good place for Mexican on Lansing south side.
