We used to dine at Abuelo's at least TWICE a week... Now we dine there about once every week or so. This is becuase they've had a change in management - what used to be a fun atmosphere to meet friends and clients - enjoy a fun dinner with our family - and to chat with the staff - is no more. The new management appears to limit her "working hours" to 9-4 - we have only seen her ONCE since she became the new manager... and as far as seeing other management - walking about the restaurant and welcoming diners - that's no longer happening either. With the exception of some of the original staff - hostesses and a few waitresses - most appear to be unhappy. The service is slow - the food is still great - but it may take a while to get to the table. This restaurant certainly has potential - it has gorgeous dining and bar areas - tasty menu - but repeat dining is certainly not encouraged by the non-existent management and surly staff members.
We stopped in just to see what the place was like. Had a fine meal. Pricey for a Mexican restaurant (Taco Bell it isn't) but the portions were large and the food was wonderful.
Nice decor, open, but didn't have to watch the other patrons chew. Nice staff. We'll be back.
